The primary benefit of a Qantas frequent flyer credit card is the ablity to earn Qantas Points on you everyday spend. Some cards offer additional Qantas related benefits, such as Qantas Club airpoint lounge access. Qantas frequent flyer credit cards with higher annual fees typically offer more benefits, including the ability to earn Qantas Points faster.

If you spend quite a bit each month, regularly pay off the balance, and love flying Qantas, then a Qantas frequent flyer credit card may be a good choice for you.

Key trade-offs, however, are relatively high annual fees, high interest rates, and the fact that you’re locked in to Qantas.

You sure can. While the range of redemption options is not as broad as other Rewards credit cards, the Qantas Frequent Flyer program allows you to use your frequent flyer points for non-flight related items as well. These include:

  • Accommodation, such as hotels;
  • Shopping, including gift cards and direct purchases from the Qantas Store;
  • Access to purchase through Qantas Wine;
  • Qantas Travel Insurance; and
  • Fuel with BP, plus hire cars to travel once you land.

^ Credit card reward programs can be difficult to compare due to tiered and capped points earn rate structures. To simplify comparison, we estimate the number of points you could earn per $1 spent, assuming $5,000 of spend on eligible purchases each month.
